About the H. Upmann Robusto Limited Edition 2012

The H. Upmann Robusto Limited Edition 2012, known in Cuba as the Robustos Edicion Limitada 2012, belongs to one of the oldest and most respected names in Havana. H. Upmann traces its history back to 1844, and the brand has long been associated with elegant, refined smokes. This particular Robusto is not part of the permanent H. Upmann portfolio. It first appeared as an exclusive Travel Humidor release at the Cannes festival in 2008 and was met with such enthusiasm that Habanos brought the size back as part of the prestigious Edicion Limitada program for 2012. Like every Edicion Limitada, it carries leaves that were aged for at least two years before rolling, and its wrapper is dressed with the darker top leaves of shade grown black Cuban tobacco. The result is a cigar that looks noticeably richer than a standard production H. Upmann.

Flavor profile by thirds

The opening third tends to be gentle and inviting, leaning on cedar, a touch of mint, and a soft sweetness backed by light cocoa. As the cigar settles into its second third, the profile broadens. Notes of leather, roasted nuts, and warm wood come forward, joined by a gentle spice that gives the smoke more presence than its mild reputation might suggest. The final third deepens further into dark chocolate and sweet earthiness, carrying a medium to strong cedary aroma that confirms its Limited Edition pedigree.
