The Partagas De Luxe (Tubos) carries the DNA of one of Cuba’s founding cigar houses, a marca established in Havana back in 1845 and long celebrated for full, earthy, coffee-laden smoke. Presented as a corona in an individual aluminium tubo, this is a cigar built for travel and for keeping, the metal sheath shielding the wrapper while the tobacco continues its slow maturation. Where many Partagas vitolas chase power, the De Luxe leans toward balance, offering the classic Partagas character in a poised, easy-to-carry package.
The opening third sets out with cocoa and cedar on a creamy, slightly snug draw that soon loosens, joined by a gentle honeyed sweetness that softens the edges. Through the middle the cigar finds its stride, with roasted coffee, chestnut, and a touch of woody spice building toward a firmer, medium-bodied core. The final third pushes into Medium to Full territory, where cedar deepens and a faint peppery warmth rounds out a long, lingering finish that holds on the palate well after the last puff.
Like most Habanos, the De Luxe rewards patience. The aluminium tubo offers some protection, but for serious aging you should remove the cigars and rest them in a well-seasoned humidor held at roughly 65 to 70 percent relative humidity and around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. Given a year or two of slumber the youthful edges settle, the honeyed sweetness integrates, and the cedar and coffee notes grow rounder and more harmonious.
This is a smoke for the enthusiast who values heritage and consistency over novelty. Newer smokers will appreciate the manageable 40 ring gauge and the gradual build in strength, while seasoned aficionados will recognise the unmistakable Partagas signature beneath the polish. The tubo format also makes it an ideal choice for the office humidor, the travel case, or a thoughtful gift.
What size is the Partagas De Luxe (Tubos)?
It is a Corona, measuring 5.5 inches (140 mm) in length with a 40 ring gauge, presented in an individual aluminium tube.
How strong is the Partagas De Luxe?
It is generally rated Medium to Full. The first third smokes on the milder side before the body builds noticeably through the second half toward a fuller finish.
Should I age these cigars in the tube?
The tube protects the cigar for short-term storage and travel, but for long-term aging it is best to remove the cigars and store them in a properly seasoned humidor.
