The Cohiba Medio Siglo was released in 2016 as part of Cohiba’s 50th anniversary celebrations. “Medio Siglo” translates to “half century.” It combines the ring gauge of the Siglo VI (52) with the length of the Siglo I (102mm), creating a unique short robusto format.

So who should smoke it? Experienced smokers who want to taste what Cuban tobacco is really capable of when it’s concentrated into a smaller format. People who’ve worked their way through the Cohiba line and want to try something a bit different. Folks who have limited time but don’t want to compromise on quality.
I also recommend it for anyone who’s gotten tired of the “bigger is better” mentality that’s dominated the cigar world for the past decade or so. Sometimes smaller really is more sophisticated.
Storage and Handling: A Few Hard-Learned Lessons
Let me save you some heartbreak here. The Medio Siglo, like most Cuban cigars, is particular about storage. But it’s especially sensitive to humidity fluctuations because of that shorter format.
I learned this the hard way about five years ago. Had a box stored at about 65% humidity (which works fine for most of my collection), but when I went to smoke one after a few months, the wrapper started cracking right at the band. Turns out these little guys prefer things a bit more humid – I keep mine at around 68-70% now, and haven’t had a problem since.
