At the XIX Habano Festival in Cuba, Habanos SA formally announced the H. Upmann Sir Winston Gran Reserva 2011. As the name indicates it adds a Gran Reserva offering to the H. Upmann line in the popular Sir Winston (Churchill size) format.
Gran Reserva is a designation typically used for more limited production releases in the Habanos portfolio using aged tobaccos. They typically also have upgraded packaging. With the H. Upmann Sir Winston Gran Reserva 2011, it is the first time an H. Upmann cigar has been given the Gran Reserva designation.
According to Habanos SA, the H. Upmann Sir Winston Gran Reserva 2011 uses wrapper, binder, and filler that have undergone an extensive five year aging process. A total of 5,000 boxes have been produced. The cigar features the 7 x 47 Sir Winston size.
The XIX Habano Festival took place February 27 – March 3, 2017 in Cuba.

Sir Winston Gran Reserva Is one of the oldest and most respected brands. Created in 1844, the brand is known for its soft to medium blend and delicate flavors.
Its creamy texture and soft make it a lovely long cigar for any time of the day. With a great acceptance among fans of Sir Winston Gran Reserva and Habano in general, now you will have the opportunity to enjoy this vitola with an extra aging of its leaves. the quality of the wrapper is perfect. Soft and oily, The Sir Winston Gran Reserva is a true beauty to look at. Its double black and gold band Gran Reserva highlights the cigar brilliantly.
The Gran Reserva cigar you expect at least a perfectly rolled Habanos. only the best rollers from the top factories have been involved in the construction of the Sir Winston GR. To produce this Gran Reserva, the best-harvested tobacco leaves were selected: Vuelta Abajo *, Pinar del Río *, Cuba *. All the leaves that make up the Habano have been subjected to a long and careful aging process of five years.
With this additional aging process, tobacco releases tannins, which allows the tobacco leaves to have a rounder, sweeter and aromatic flavor. The edition is only 5,000 boxes for everyone, each box is numbered individually. The race in this cigar will be correspondingly large. If you can get one, you are among the lucky fans.
