The Punch Punch is the flagship Corona Gorda of one of Cuba’s oldest names, a brand registered back in 1840 and built around the cheerful figure of Mr. Punch borrowed from the satirical magazine of the era. Since 1931 Punch has been closely linked with Hoyo de Monterrey, both rolled today at the historic La Corona factory in Havana. Filled, bound and wrapped with leaf from the Vuelta Abajo region, this is a cigar that has earned its place as a benchmark medium Habano, equal parts approachable and rewarding.
The first third opens gently with soft fresh leather, a pinch of cedar and a bright lift of orange peel that keeps the early draws lively. Through the middle the body settles into a confident medium with a warm hardwood backbone, rounded natural tobacco and touches of honeyed sweetness and gentle spice.
